Locally Sync: Your Shelf Stock, In Local Search

An independent retailer competes with online sellers every day, usually without knowing it. A shopper eight miles away searches for a boot. They find it online, they order it, it ships. The store that had that boot on the shelf in their size never entered the picture. Not because the shopper preferred to buy online, but because there was no way to know the store existed and had it.

Locally exists to close that gap. It shows shoppers which nearby stores carry what they are searching for and whether it is in stock right now. The catch has always been the feed. Locally can only show what your point of sale tells it, and telling it means exporting current inventory and getting the file where it needs to go, accurately, on a schedule, forever. Do that by hand and it lasts two weeks.

Locally Sync does it for you. It reads your WinSale inventory, builds the file Locally expects, and sends it on the schedule you set. Once it is configured it runs on its own.

Picking what goes out

Not every retailer wants every brand listed, and not every vendor agreement allows it. Locally Sync asks which brands to publish and sends only those. The brand list comes straight out of your vendor file, so it is the same list you already work with, and you check the ones you want. Leave everything unchecked and it sends the whole store.

Multi-store retailers publish each location separately. Store 607 sends store 607’s stock. The shopper searching in that town sees what is actually on that shelf, not a company-wide number that sends them to the wrong door.

Quantities that hold up

The quantity comes out of WinSale at the moment the file is built. Items with nothing on hand are left out entirely, because sending a shopper after something you sold last Tuesday costs more than the sale was worth.

UPCs go out complete. WinSale stores the item number without the trailing check digit, which is fine internally but is not what a barcode carries. Locally Sync computes the check digit and appends it, so what you send matches what Locally is matching against.

Running unattended

Locally Sync allows you to pick a frequency, hourly through nightly and run the sync silently in the background and stays out of the way. Nothing to remember, nothing to click.

Each store gets its own task, its own settings, and its own log file, so a retailer running several locations on one machine is not stepping on themselves.
